Research Regarding the Influence of Raw Material and Woven Fabric Geometry on the Air Permeability of Mattress

2017

Abstract Properties of woven fabrics are influenced by many factors: the nature of raw materials, woven fabric geometry and density, technological parameters of the weaving operation and finishing. The main purpose of this research paper is to increase the performance of woven process during mattress manufacturing by choosing the right woven fabric geometry and raw material. The variation in air permeability depends on the area density, linear density, loop length and thickness of yarns. To obtain woven fabric samples were used several types of classic yarns, also ecological yarns like organic cotton and bamboo viscose. On the other side, tests results show the fabric resistance regarding a…

Bearing strength and failure behavior of pinned hybrid glass-flax composite laminates

2018

Abstract The aim of the present work is to evaluate the influence of external layers of glass woven fabric on the pin-hole strength of flax/epoxy laminates. Single lap bearing tests were carried out to evaluate the fastened joint performances depending on laminate stacking sequence. In order to better identify the mechanical behavior of the hybrid laminate, full glass and flax laminates were also compared. In particular, bearing stress and failure mechanisms were investigated at varying joint geometry. Furthermore, an experimental failure map, clustering main failure modes of pinned hybrid composite laminate, was used to better clarify the relationship between mechanical failure and geometr…

Water Absorption of Hemp Fibre Nonwovens Modified with Metal and Metal Oxide Nanoparticles

2015

In this paper changes of ability of hemp fibre nonwovens to absorb water after deposition of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles were investigated. Moisture content of samples after storage in different climatic conditions was determined using thermogravimetric method. The obtained results were compared with the results of previous research based on investigation of water absorption of metalized woven fabric of bast fibre. Analysis of measurements showed that nonwoven samples with surface treated in plasma attract water slightly better than sample with untreated surface; this was more pronounced in woven fabric samples. In turn, metal coatings reduced water sorption. Unlike woven fabric sam…

Predicting mechanical behaviour and damage kinetics of a 3D interlock composite materials by using a multiscale approach

2012

International audience; The present work aims to investigate the mechanical behaviour and the damage kinetics of a3D interlock woven fabric composite, especially used for natural gas tanks dedicated to thetransportation industry. On the one hand, we aim at predicting the macroscopic coefficients ofthe stiffness matrix by homogenization multiscale approach. For this, we identified a basicunit cell which represents well the composite microstructure. On the other hand, damagemechanisms are analyzed: optical microscopy examinations on damaged specimens revealedseveral types of defects. We used the same multi-scale approach to assess the impact of thesedefects on the decrease of stiffness.
